As we prepare to celebrate 11 years in business, i felt it was a good time to share some of my story.
I was born and Raised in and around the Athens Georgia area, except for a few years as a kid that we lived out of State so my Dad could go to Seminary,. I love this State and everything about it from being able to watch the Dawgs between the Hedges in Sanford Stadium, to a short drive into Atlanta to see the Hawks, Braves and Falcons play. From great sports and different events, the mountains and beyond our State has a lot to offer and I am happy for this to be home!
In June of 2000 I began my career as a plumber, at the recommendation of my brother who had been in the trades as a plumber for a few years. Since then, I have truly enjoyed everything about plumbing especially getting to meet new customers and friends along the way.
Being able to be the “Plumbing Service Hero” and resolve plumbing emergencies for those in need, is and has been very fulfilling.
In 2010 I felt very impressed to start a plumbing company and began to plan, pray, study, and make plans. Over the course of 5 years I received my journeyman’s license and then Master plumbing license.
Then in 2015, feeling the time was right, my wife and I launched Plumber Pro Service & Drain. We started simply. Just a little red pickup truck and some basic tools.
Our goal from the beginning has been to not be just “another plumbing company”. We wanted to make sure we were known for being honest, friendly, professional and always aim to provide the best service possible and maintain a hometown feel.
One of my fondest memories came in my first year as a new plumbing business owner.
I had a lady who’s husband was on oxygen and not doing well. It was clear she was overwhelmed and doing her best despite the situation. As I came in to help with a toilet clog they had, I felt very impressed to not charge them and just be a blessing to them that day. After clearing the toilet, I told her there was no charge and that I was praying for them. The change and thankfulness in her face and voice left me so grateful to have the honor of providing that moment and relief for her!
Giving back and helping others within our community has been and will always be a part of our DNA here at Plumber Pro Service & Drain. We have a community support page that you can visit to see different ways we are working to make a difference. (in development)
Being a family man myself I know that our customers deserve to have a family owned and operated plumbing company they can count on. We have kept our family involved the whole way since our start.
One of our first welcome videos we made included my son who was the Star lol. Most Events we help with like the Oconee Fall Festival & Christmas Parade and School Career Days, I’ve had the joy of having my wife, my daughter and son help us with.
That brings me great joy to see them involved and bringing smiles to our customers and friends!
Recently in June 2021 it was my honor to accept a position on the Construction Licensing Board with the State of Georgia for the plumbing trades.
Serving with the board has been very fulfilling to be a part of, ensuring plumbing as a trade stays strong for future plumbers and we continue to protect the health of our State and customers thru ensuring proper plumbing standards and licensing requirements are met.
As we look ahead to the future, my focus will continue to be to provide the best plumbing service possible for our customers and keep this a place where those in the trade are supported in their chosen field and career and can grow in a culture that is healthy and focused on doing things the right way. Always.
Thank-you and God Bless,
Sam Ivey
